Backblaze and Flamethrower host two Afterburn evenings in SF
Backblaze and Flamethrower are hosting two Afterburn evenings around SF Tech Week and TechCrunch Disrupt for founders, builders, investors and partners, with no panels or pitches.
How to use it in a deal: Part of the startup and AI-builder push: invite early-stage and AI prospects and partner contacts as a low-pressure touchpoint, then follow up with a scoped B2 trial.

Backblaze Labs open-sources a 4D Gaussian splat template
Radiance Fields covered a Backblaze Labs template, MIT-licensed, that turns synchronized multi-camera video into a trained 4D Gaussian splat stored in B2. It stages data for hustvl/4DGaussians (the CVPR 2024 paper code) and tracks how one capture session fans out into frames, checkpoints and a final splat.
How to use it in a deal: A strong demo or whiteboard prop for media and AI pipeline buyers, but position it as sample code with no SLA: the deployed API is unauthenticated with bucket-wide access, so scope any POC to a dedicated bucket and application key.

"Hippius is $6/TB with egress included"
Hippius, a decentralized cloud that runs as Bittensor Subnet 75, lists S3-compatible storage at $6 per TB per month pay as you go, with egress and API requests included, and markets one-click migration from B2, S3 and R2.
How to use it in a deal: Don't fight the headline price: compare what the customer is buying. B2 brings designed durability of 11 nines, a published SLA, enterprise support and the backup and media ecosystem their vendors already certify; ask what their auditors and backup vendor will accept for data spread across an independent miner network.

New Jamf deployment options for Business Computer Backup
Backblaze expanded its Jamf integration for Mac backup: devices can be matched to users from existing assignment data or by detecting the logged-in user, while silent installs, scripts and existing Jamf policies keep working.
How to use it in a deal: Mac-heavy shops (media, design, education): Computer Backup deploys through the Jamf workflows IT already runs, so propose a pilot group before fleet rollout.
