Drive Stats explorer
Backblaze publishes the daily health of every drive in its fleet. This explorer turns 8 quarters (2024 Q3 to 2026 Q2) into failure rates you can slice by model and manufacturer.
Fleet and manufacturer AFR by quarter
AFR by model
Bar = AFR; whisker-free on purpose: small populations swing. Faded bars mark rows with fewer than 50,000 drive-days in the selection. Hover or tap a row for detail.
How to use this with a customer
- Credibility: few storage vendors publish their own failure data, quarterly, for over a decade.
- Durability is not drive reliability: drives fail every day. Durability comes from erasure coding across drives and servers, plus rebuild speed.
- Don't sell drives: customers buy B2, not a model number. Use this to show operational transparency.
Source: Backblaze Hard Drive Stats (public dataset), quarters 2024 Q3 to 2026 Q2, aggregated 2026-10-17. AFR = failures / (drive_days / 365) x 100 per quarter. Models listed when they have at least 100 average drives and 10,000 drive-days in that quarter. HDDs only; SSD models excluded by name. Boot and SSD models (DELLBOSS, WD Blue SA510, IronWolf ZA, Micron/Crucial) are excluded from the model list. Figures computed by this site from the raw data and may differ slightly from Backblaze's published tables, which apply their own exclusions. Unofficial.
